The MTN Nigeria Foundation has announced the disbursement of N114 million worth of scholarships to 380 students, including visually impaired students, in Nigerian universities in 2024.
The Foundation also inducted 380 graduates into the MTN Alumni Scholars Association.
At the award ceremony held on Tuesday in Abuja, the foundation awarded scholarships to students with outstanding academic records.
The scholarships allow recipients to study any course from entry level to final year and will be renewable annually if other conditions are met.
In her opening remarks, MTN Nigeria Foundation Director Aishatu Sadauki said the foundation is driven by the belief that individuals can lead successful lives, regardless of their background.
“The foundation is driven by the idea and belief that every individual, regardless of background or socio-economic level, can be a pioneer, a problem solver and a visionary,” she said.
She also expressed the organization’s intention to fully support the winners in their efforts to achieve academic excellence.
“We are here to support you in your efforts to achieve academic excellence and we will use every tool available to achieve this,” she said.
Addressing the winners, Aishatu said: “Make meaningful connections and acquire the knowledge and skills you need to excel and contribute to your society.
You have shown that obstacles are not obstacles but detours to greatness.
“Remember, our Yello family believes in you and your ability to make a difference in the world around you.
